Product Description

“Dust My Broom” is a song composed and recorded in 1936 by the singer and blues guitarist Robert Johnson, originally as “I Believe I’ll Dust My Broom”. In this recording Johnson sings it and is accompanied only with his acoustic guitar in a style clearly influenced by Delta-Blues.

Later, in 1951, Elmore James made a version adding to it a slide guitar riff made with repeating triplets that would end up becoming the identifying mark of the song.

“Dust My Broom” has been covered by a large number of artists (in addition to Elmore James, ZZ Top, Fletwood Mac, etc …) and has been played in different tones and tunings, both standard, open and dropped, coming to be considered as a blues standard. The cover that we include here is based on the version that ZZTop included in their album “Degüello”, from 1979.

Personnel:
– Billy Gibbons : Vocals, guitar.
– Dusty Hill : Bass.
– Frank Beard : Drums.
