Product Description
“Communiqué” is the fourth track on the second album by the English band Dire Straits, and it also gives the album its title. It was recorded between November 1978 and January 1979 at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas, and released in June 1979.
The recording sessions for Communiqué progressed rapidly following the success of the single “Sultans of Swing,” taken from the Dire Straits album. They used demos the band had recorded during previous sessions. Barry Beckett, the album’s producer, was convinced that the lack of keyboards had given the previous album a harsh sound and poor production, so he decided to collaborate as a keyboardist on some tracks, including “Communiqué,” though under the pseudonym B. Bear.
“Communiqué” is one of the lesser-known songs by Mark Knopfler’s band to the general public and there are no known live recordings of the song, but nevertheless it is one of the ones that best represents their sound in the early days./p>
