Product Description

“Crazy Little Thing Called Love” is a song by the British band Queen, written by their singer and leader Freddie Mercury, and released as a single in 1979 and later included on their 1980 album “The Game”. It was also part of their 1981 compilation album “Greatest Hits”.

The song was the group’s first to reach first place on the North American charts, along with “Another One Bites The Dust”. In Australia it also reached number one, staying in the same position for six weeks. It also reached number two on the UK Singles Chart in 1979, and became the group’s first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, where it remained for four consecutive weeks in 1980.

Mercury wrote the song in a characteristic rockabilly style, as a tribute to his idols Elvis Presley1 and Cliff Richard. According to a statement in Melody Maker magazine, Freddie wrote this song during a “bubble bath” at the Bayerischer Hof hotel in Munich, in just ten minutes. The song was recorded at the Musicland studio in that same city in less than an hour (although Reinhold Mack, co-producer of the album, claims it was six hours).
