“Day Tripper” is a song by the British rock band The Beatles composed mostly by John Lennon although credited to Lennon/McCartney. The music was written entirely by Lennon, including the guitar riff, and most of the lyrics as well, although McCartney contributed some of it.

It was written out of a need to have a single for Christmas 1965 and was released as the first and only double A-side single of his career, alongside “We Can Work It Out”. Both were recorded during the “Rubber Soul” sessions but, ultimately, neither was included on the album. Nor did it ever appear on any other official studio album, but it did appear on several of the band’s compilations such as “A Collection of Beatles Oldies” (1966), “20 Greatest Hits” (1982), “Past Masters 2” (1988) or “1 ” (2000).

The song became an almost immediate hit and the riffing, repetitive guitar riff, along with the powerful bass line and punchy, punchy drums gave it an upbeat, rocking sound making it a classic in the band’s repertoire.

– John Lennon: Lead vocals and rhythm guitar.
– Paul McCartney: Lead vocals and bass.
– George Harrison: Lead guitar and harmony vocals.
– Ringo Starr: Drums and tambourine.
