Black Dog

“Black Dog” is the first track from the fourth studio album by English band Led Zeppelin and was also the first single from that album, reaching number 15 on the US charts..

The song was composed by Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page but the main riff of the song, on which the song is built, was written only by John Paul Jones.

The lyrics speak of the attraction and desire that the narrator feels for a girl although she does not seem to be feeling the same. However, the title does not seem to have anything to do with it as the song was called “Black Dog” after an old labrador retriever who wandered around the studio (Headley Grange) where the band recorded the album.
