My Sharona

“My Sharona” is a song included in the album “Get The Knack”, released in 1979, by the American band “The Knack”. It was composed by the band’s guitarist Berton Averre and singer Doug Fieger and produced by Mike Chapman.

The song was the band’s biggest hit and was released on June 18, 1979, reaching a gold record in just eight weeks and reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on August 25.

It was composed over an ostinato guitar riff that Berton Averre had written long before joining the band and Doug Fieger wrote the lyrics after meeting a 17-year-old girl (Sharona Alperin) from Los Angeles with whom he fell madly in love. just meet her. Later she would end up being his girlfriend.
