“Paint It Black” is a song by the British band The Rolling Stones, composed by Mick Jagger and Keith Richerds, and released as a single and in the US edition of the album Aftermath, in 1966.
The song was number one in both England and the United States and was the first to reach such a position by having a sitar (played by Brian Jones). It also came in at number 174 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
The lyrics speak about loneliness, desolation and depression using metaphors about colors.
